Myrrh-Streaming Icon “Softener of Evil Hearts” visits Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary
From April 2-17, 2012, the myrrh-streaming "Softener of Evil Hearts" icon of the Mother of God resided at Holy Trinity Monastery. The holy icon had been in the United States since mid-March, visiting Orthodox parishes and monasteries all along the East Coast. The icon was greeted at Holy Trinity Monastery on April 2nd. An akathist especially written to be prayed before this icon were served that day to the All-Holy Theotokos in both Church Slavonic and English. The icon was carried throughout the Monastery and Seminary in supplication for the blessing of the Mother of God. However, the icon left briefly to go to St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Monastery in Roscoe, New York and St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania before returning for all of Holy Week and the feast of Pascha.

The icon, a paper copy of the original, began streaming in 1999. Since then, the Mother of God has been blessing churches and monasteries throughout Russia through her Icon, accompanied by the icon's guardian Sergei Fomin. At the invitation of Archimandrite Luke, Fomin first brought the icon to the United States in 2009. This is the second visit.
