Instructor at Holy Trinity Seminary attends Conference in Athens
From September 13–17, Deacon Andrei Psarev, an instructor at Holy Trinity Seminary, attended the 20th Congress of the Society for the Law of the Eastern Churches, held near Athens, Greece.
The conference was held under the auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece at Pendeli Monastery, and dealt with canonical issues of Orthodox churches in the diaspora. Father Andrei, who teaches church history and canon law, talked about his research on the Byzantine understanding of Canon 15 of the First and Second Council of Constantinople (861).
This canon is often referenced today by those who cease communion with their ecclesiastical hierarchy.
A complete account of the proceedings of the congress can be found at the ROCOR Synodal website.
