St. Herman's Youth Conference at Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary, Sunday
Sunday, December 26, was the third day of the St. Herman's Youth Conference. His Grace Bishop Gabriel served the Liturgy of St. James with fellow clergy. This ancient liturgy, written by St. James, the Brother of the Lord and first Bishop of Jerusalem, was the basis of the Liturgies of St. Basil and St. John Chrysostom, currently in use in the Orthodox Church. After the liturgy and meal in the trapeza, conference participants gathered in the Seminary Hall to hear a lecture by Hieromonk Cyprian (Alexandrou) of Holy Trinity Monastery. Fr. Cyprian gave an informative and practical lecture of fighting temptations.
Conference participants then had several hours of free time, which some used to travel to nearby Cooperstown to sing Christmas carols. Later that evening, conference participants regrouped at St. John of Kronstadt parish in Utica, where the rector, Fr. Michael Taratuchin gave a tour and then served a moleben to St. John of Kronstadt. Dinner was then served in the parish hall, which was filled to the brim with lively young people. Finally, all the participants returned to the hotel, where they spent a very pleasant evening.
