The new academic year 2010-2011 begins at Holy Trinity Seminary
On Tuesday, September 7, Holy Trinity Seminary marked the beginning of the new academic year 2010-2011 with a supplicatory moleben following Divine Liturgy.
Archimandrite Luke, the Rector of Holy Trinity Seminary, led the moleben in concelebration with the Seminary’s Dean Archpriest Vladimir Tsurikov, Dean of students Hieromonk Cyprian (Alexandrou) and Faculty member Deacon Andrei Psarev. Seminarians, teachers and all the faithful prayed for a blessed and prosperous school year. Following the breakfast at the refectory students gathered in the seminary hall to attend to official greeting from the Rector and Dean of the Seminary. In his welcoming speech Fr. Luke encouraged students for diligent studying in the started academic year. After the singing of "It is truly meet" the Rector blessed the new seminarians to wear the cassock and belt.
The new academic year has seen several changes in the Seminary’s faculty. English as a Second Language as well as English Composition will now be taught by Tia Lockwood. Hieromonk Roman (Krassovsky) from Holy Trinity Monastery’s brotherhood will once again return to the faculty to teach Church Music and Liturgics. This year’s new students have arrived from the United States, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, and Macedonia.
