A discussion took place at Holy Trinity Seminary
with the Rector of the Kiev Orthodox Theological Academy and Seminary
On Wednesday, February 10, 2010, the students at Holy Trinity Seminary met with the Rector of the Kiev Orthodox Theological Academy and Seminary, His Eminence Anthony, Archbishop of Borispol. Vladyka shared with his audience the especially warm feelings he has for the monastery in Jordanville and thanked the Lord for the opportunity to pray in this holy place. He described life at Kiev’s theological schools and the state of theological education in Ukraine. Archbishop Anthony pointed out that, in addition to theological training, a student must at the minimum receive the ability to pray and interact with God, and that a monastery environment is especially beneficial for this purpose. In answering questions, Vladyka emphasized most that only when Christ occupies the “first place” in the life of an Orthodox Christian spiritual growth is possible. The Dean of the Holy Trinity Seminary, Protodeacon Vladimir Tsurikov thanked Vladyka Anthony for his instructive words to the students and expressed the hope for the future development of relations between our schools.
