On November 18, the Benton Scholars hosted a “Russian roundtable” in Persson Hall at Colgate University. The roundtable was dedicated to “Contemporary Social Issues in Russian Society,” and was organized by the Benton Scholars after having visited Russia in the Spring of 2009.
Prior to the Benton Scholars’ journey to Russia, they visited Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary, where they had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Russian Orthodoxy and Russian culture.
Participants of the roundtable included members from various departments at Colgate University – Dan Epstein from Political Science, Nancy Ries from Anthropology, and John Hope from the Russian department. Holy Trinity Seminary was represented by its Dean, Protodeacon Vladimir Tsurikov.
