HTS celebrates feast day of St. George the Great Martyr
On Tuesday, May 6, 2008, Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary celebrated the feast day of St. George the Great Martyr. Classes were dismissed for the day so that all could participate. His Grace, Bishop Gabriel of Manhattan, arrived on the eve to officiate at All-night vigil, served the hierarchal liturgy on the day of the feast. The monastery’s dean, Archimandrite George (Schaefer), and fourth-year seminarian Georgii Kaplanov, celebrated their names days, along with archpriest George Larin, rector of the Pokrov parish in Nyack, N.Y., who visited the monastery and seminary for that occasion. Many years to Archimandrite George, Archpriest George and seminarian Georgii!
This day also coincided with Radonitsa. A panikhida remembering His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus, was served by His Grace, Bishop Gabriel, and the local clergy. Memory Eternal!
