Film Crew from the "Orthodox Encyclopedia" visits Holy Trinity Seminary
On December 14, 2007, a film crew from Moscow representing the project ‘Planeta Pravoslaviia’ (Planet of Orthodoxy) run by the documentary branch of ‘Pravoslavnaia Entsiklopedia’ (Orthodox Encyclopaedia) visited Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary in Jordanvillle.
His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus, First Hierarch of the Russian
Orthodox Church Abroad and Rector of Holy Trinity Seminary met with
the film makers and gave an interview focusing on the monastery life
in Jordanville. Seminarians attracted the most attention of the filmcrew which was amazed by the presence of students from many different
parts of the world brought together under the same roof of Holy
Trinity Monastery and Seminary.
According to the authors of the
documentary, this evidence of Orthodoxy among different nations was the main idea of the documentary series ‘Planet of Orthodoxy’. The
crew interviewed students and depicted the everyday life of
seminarians with their studies and work in the print shop, library
and bakery.
After their visit of Jordanville the crew continued filming Orthodox
life in the New York area followed by a visit to San-Francisco, CA.
This documentary, along with other instalments in this series about
Orthodox life in different countries (Planeta Pravoslaviia), is
expected to be presented on RTR (Russian Nationwide Broadcast) on
Easter 2008.
