Plans for a new Scholarly Publication Announced
On March 16, 2007, Deacon Vladimir Tsurikov, Assistant Dean of Holy Trinity Seminary, participated in a meeting of the Centre for the Study of Russian Orthodoxy in the Diaspora. The meeting was hosted by the Academy of Sciences in Moscow and was chaired by Archbishop Evgeny, rector of the Moscow Theological Academy and Director of the Centre, which was founded in October 2004 by a joint initiative of the Moscow Theological Academy and Holy Trinity Seminary. The Centre for the Study of Russian Orthodoxy in the Diaspora is currently preparing the release of a Biblical Dictionary by N.N. Glubokovsky, a well known theologian and alumnus of the Moscow Theological Academy, prepared jointly by the Moscow Theological Academy, Holy Trinity Seminary and the Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, the publication of which will constitute the first completed work of the Centre.
In attendance at the meeting were Prof. A.O. Chubarian, Director of the Institute of World History at the Academy of Sciences; O.I Barkovets, Advisor to the president of "Sputnik" on charity and cultural affairs; Prof. M.V. Bibikov; S.V. Mironenko, Director of the Russian State Archives; M.V. Shkarovsky of the Central State Archives in St. Petersburg; A. Beglov (Academy of Sciences); E.S. Tokareva (Academy of Sciences); V.A. Moskvin, Director of the library and research centre "Russian Diaspora"; A.A. Kostriukov (St. Tikhon's Orthodox University of the Humanities); Archpriest Vladislav Tsypin, Hieromonk Evfimy (Moiseev) and Hieromonk Sava (Tutunov) representing the Moscow Theological Academy.
During the meeting, it was decided to approve plans for a multivolume publication dedicated to the history of Russian Orthodoxy in the Diaspora in the 20 th century. The next meeting of the Editorial Board will take place in Moscow on April 16 th at the Academy of Sciences.
The strong bond between the Moscow Theological Academy and Holy Trinity Seminary was further strengthened by a formally signed agreement between the two schools, which will allow for a continuation of joint projects.
