Visit of Archpriest Alexander Golubov, Academic Dean of St. Tikhon's Seminary
The seminarians and faculty of Holy Trinity Seminary welcomed the V. Rev. Archpriest Alexander Golubov, Academic Dean of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA, to Jordanville on March 29, 2004. Fr. Alexander came to deliver a lecture entitled "Defining the Church in Nineteenth-century Russian Theological Thought."
Fr. Alexander demonstrated the return of Russian theological reflection to a patristic ecclesiology after years of Western captivity. Fr. Alexander's presentation, which was very well received, was followed by a lively discussion period. Of special interest to the seminarians was Fr. Alexander's own pastoral experience, about which he spoke during the question and answer session. Although the talk was intended to last only an hour, with the lively discussion the evening lasted more than twice as long. Fr. Alexander must be thanked for his interesting talk and for sharing his many years of pastoral knowledge with our seminarians.
