St. Nicholas visits Holy Trinity
On Wednesday, January 9/22, 2003, the Myrrh-Streaming Icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was brought to Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary by its guardian, Father Elias Warnke.
News of the icon's impending arrival began to spread throughout the monastery and local community around noon. At six in the evening a large crowd of clergy, monastics, seminarians, and laymen gathered in the Holy Trinity Cathedral for a Moleben with Akathist to Saint Nicholas, served with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and Rector of Holy Trinity Seminary.
Archimandrite Luke annointed all present with myrrh from the icon while Father Elias distributed small printed copies of the icon to all who approached. After all the faithful had been anointed, Father Elias opened the icon case and lifted the exposed icon for all to see with their own eyes the large accumulation of myrrh visible on the surface of the icon.
On the following day, January 10/23, a second Moleben was served following the Divine Liturgy.
